I perform basic laboratory and translational research to improve our ability to diagnose, treat, and prognosticate in patients with stroke and other critical neurologic injuries. My discovery research program aims to identify new pathways for neuroprotection and neuro-resilience by focusing on targets identified in human genome-wide association studies and on models of ischemia tolerance including the uniquely resilient Arctic ground squirrel.
